A lot of new members and applicants often ask what the 89th MEU does and why we exist. In fact, as cut and dry as most MilSim groups are, the 89th MEU has a lot more to it than most people in the community think. So let me explain, and hopefully this will help future members and fans gain a better understanding of exactly who the 89th MEU MilSim Group is.
First, a brief-ish introduction:
The 89th MEU was founded in 2011 on Battlefield 3 by then Colonel "Bananas", with a small group of around 5 members total. Shortly after, the founder forfeited his position, and our second OIC, Colonel Johnson was appointed. Our group saw small growth, but vested the majority of time into training the members we had. Then, sometime in 2012, Col. Johnson stepped down and appointed our current OIC, Colonel Duenas. Since Col. Duenas took the billet of OIC, our group has seen major growth, but from time to time has fallen short of our goals. It's nearly 2020 though, and the 89th MEU is still growing most thanks to him. Major Moore is the current XO of the MEU, and has been a member longer than all but one of us. Not only has he steered the team in the right, although sometime rough, direction, he has contributed more to the training and development of our personnel than any other member.
Knowing what you know now about the 89th MEU, let me be the first to admit it has not been easy by any means. Many of us have sacrificed a small fortune in time and money. But we do this because it means something to us. At the end of the day, the 89th MEU is not just another MilSim team; we are the MilSim team - a brotherhood - willing to do what we have to in order to take care of our own. We look out for each other, both in game, and in our daily lives. We meet up and enjoy time together, and make memories. The first official meet-up was at an amusement park in Ohio. Then the CO and XO took a trip across the country, from Washington to North Carolina. The possibilities go on and the memories are endless. Therefore, it is our mission not only to make the most effective MilSim team possible, but to share the experiences that we've had with members present and future. Our core members that have been around since the first couple of years agreed to make this about more than just the games we play together, and instead to make this about bettering every aspect of life that we can; forming relationships and building upon skills that can be used in day-to-day life.
So if you have not yet applied to the 89th MEU, I strongly recommend you do so. There are more and more opportunities available the more we grow. We have so much more planned for the years to come, and hope you'll be there to make it happen with us. Stay safe; stay dangerous - always!

With the new announcement of Livonia, the newest DLC addition to DayZ, we are left with a couple questions about future content and updates. But for most, this is exciting news nonetheless. We have the first opportunity in DayZ (console) history to experience a new map and environment, and needless to say, the 89th MEU is going to be leading the charge!
So let's hear it folks; what do you think? Let us know if you think the devs are awesome for introducing the new DLC, or if you think they should've focused on getting what they already have up to par. And as always, stay safe; stay dangerous. We'll see you in Livonia!

We're looking for DayZ players that are willing to learn the tactics and strategies of the 89th MEU, and commit to leading various-sized units; from a fireteam of four like-minded individuals, up to a platoon made up of three or more squads of 13 people each. No matter what you're interested in, we've got just the job for you!
If a leadership position is something that interests you, or you are just interested in joining the MilSim at an enlisted rank, don't hesitate to contact a recruiter ASAP! A couple basic guidelines to go off of before making your choice:
Greetings 89th MEU Members and Chernarus Survivors! With DayZ console update 1.04 just having been released not long ago, DayZ devs are already underway with the 1.05 update. What does this mean? Well, hopefully not what it meant for their last update. As of now, we are not expected to get another server wipe - but who really knows? However, with the release of 1.05, there will be a lot of cool and exciting additions to the game. You can expect to be able to safely escape the wrath of the undead with more style using the new clambering function, which allows you to climb walls roughly two-and-a-half meters tall. Also, there are about 5 new weapons being added, slowly progressing us closer to the PC weapons list.
For the full list of expected updates coming to DayZ this month, check out DayZ.com and start planning your new loadouts. I know I'll be in search of the new Glock that's supposedly hitting the streets. What about the rest of you? Drop a comment down below and let us know which of the 1.05 weapons you're looking forward to the most. We hope to see you on the field Survivors! And as always: stay safe; stay dangerous!
The 89th MEU Begins Testing Private Server for Potential Dedicated or Training Servers in the Near Future
That's right, you read that correctly! The 89th MEU is now in the works of possibly opening up a dedicated public server, or even a private training server sometime in the weeks or months to come. For now, "The 89th MEU Private Test Server" remains locked and accessible only by a few select individuals, with just a mere 10 player capacity. However, after testing is complete, and assuming the server runs as expected, the server will potentially be unlocked, and the capacity expanded. To what capacity is still unknown; however, if you wish to see a certain player capacity, or have other recommendations for moderation (such as day/night cycle) please drop us a comment and we'll be glad to take your input into consideration.
Additionally, it would be a big help to us if our fans would consider donating to our MilSim group. We run a tight team with a lot of opportunities, and so far, all of our funding comes from our dedicated members. The donations would go toward unit-related functions, activities, and gaming equipment with our devoted fans and members in mind; as you guys make what we do possible. You can access the donation tool, or discover more ways to support the team here! As always, the 89th MEU is grateful for any contributions made toward the team, and we value the input of our members and fans. Stay safe; stay dangerous!
The 89th MEU - CBIRF has had a recent string of successful operations in the Chernarus AO. The recent 1.04 update has created a couple setbacks - but nothing the 89th MEU can't adapt to and overcome! Our humanitarian operations, as such, have also been temporarily slowed. However, expect the team to be making our rounds to a neighborhood near you soon. We will be providing food, water, medicine, and safety to the regions we operate in, and will run citywide broadcasts at the time of our deployment. We look forward to working in cooperation with the many communities around Chernarus and providing aid to those in need. Stay safe; stay dangerous out there Survivors!
Okay so look, we don't have some fancy co-op or interview right now. We're working on it. But if anyone knows anything about the 89th MEU, currently the CBIRF detachment is the only active team, and you've probably met all of us already. However, I wanted to take the time to describe what it's like working with the 89th MEU CBIRF team for those who are still curious about the 89th MEU and our involvement in DayZ.
It started out, one sunny day, when we heard the news break for DayZ on console. Then, next thing we knew, angels descended from the sky with a scroll, prophesizing the creation of our Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Incident Response Force... Okay, perhaps that's a bit far fetched. However, the idea was so perfect, it might as well have been true. The 89th MEU, down on our luck after a long drought in recruit onboarding, and pressed for time, finally stumbled upon the answer to all of our problems: DayZ!
Once we tested the waters, and saw the endless possibilities (bugs aside) that the game had to offer, we couldn't resist. We immediately began filing our ranks back in line, and establishing a structure in preparation for a total revamp in our MilSim team. Since then, the 89th MEU CBIRF team has been freeing towns from local terrorist cells, wiping out the hordes of undead plaguing the lands, and helping those down on their luck with medical aid and provisions.
Most importantly, however, is that the 89th MEU is back in town, and ready to kick some more ass. Join us today and see what separates us from the rest. Stay safe; stay dangerous!
89th MEU members and staff, gear up for Operation: Rec & Chow!
Don't be alarmed, no effort is required from most of you. But you should give the new Rec & Chow - Events Page a look when you get the chance. This page is exclusive to 89th MEU recruits and enlisted personnel, and showcases what us 89th MEU MilSim Group members love the most about OUR MilSim. From the CO's recommendations for movies, books, and comics - to a little slice of MOTO from yours truly, YouTube - Rec and Chow has plenty to offer to keep you motivated on your down time.
As we progress on the development of the Rec & Chow page, we would like to hear feedback from our dedicated members. Please feel free to speak to your team leaders, or message the 89th MEU systems staff using the blue chat box on the website, and let us know what you would like to see most on the page.
The 89th MEU Command would like to thank all of our dedicated members for the effort you put in to make what we do possible. And as always, stay safe; stay dangerous!
After the 89th MEU OIC announced the prioritization of recruiting new members, the MilSim Group has doubled, if not tripled our efforts to get fresh recruits. No deadline has been given on when the recruiting will end, but for now it seems like the doors will be open for quite some time. If you're interested in joining, please don't hesitate to reach out to us ASAP! We are always looking for gamers 18+ that are interested in DayZ and have a drive to better themselves.
The 89th MEU has a multitude of jobs and opportunities for you to partake in. From infantry and Officer Candidates School, to logistics and even training personnel. We have plenty of options for anyone to choose from. Just contact a recruiter and let them know how you wish to better yourself in the 89th MEU, and choose the job you're interested in.
If, however, you don't wish to make a full commitment to the 89th MEU just yet, or you are under the age of 18, we still have plenty of tasks for you to help with as well. We commonly hire associates to help with anything from pathfinding, to recovering some of our lost gear or members when we simply don't have the time to make another trip across Chernarus. There are few requirements and we always appreciate the help with the smaller and more tedious tasks, as it lets us focus on more pressing matters. Just reach out to one of our members or contact a recruiter and let them know you're interested in becoming an 89th MEU Associate. It's as simple as that!
As for our loyal and dedicated members and personnel, make sure you stay on the recruiting efforts. We've done good so far in Q4 of FY2019. Lets wrap up the quarter with a couple more recruits and start out strong in September. Stay safe; stay dangerous!
